We used to do a feature highlighting some of the top DVDs that made
your home theater really look and sound like one. Well, with Blu-ray in full
swing,
we thought it high time to come up with a similar roundup of our
favorite Blu-ray Discs that will help show off your home theater in all its
glory.
.......
Also: if you're someone who likes demoing your system and skipping around
between scenes, you'll want a fast Blu-ray player. Right now, the fastest
players we've tested are the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Samsung BD-P3600
.
Though not quite as fast as its step-up sibling, the Samsung BDP-1600 is
among the fastest sub-$300 players we've tested (we'll update these "fast"
player picks as we review new models).

1. Baraka
2. Black Hawk Down
3. Blade Runner [Collector 5 disc]
4. Casino Royal
5. The Dark Knight
6. How The West Was Won
7. Iron Man
8. Live Free Or Die Hard
9. Mad Men [Season 1]
10. No Country For Old Men
11. Pirates of the Caribbean-Black Pearl
12. The Police-Certifiable
13. Ratatouille
14. Rescue Dawn
15. Ronin
16. Sunshine
17. Transformers
18. Tropic Thunder
19. Wall-E
20. Youth Without Youth

Uh, well, at least they have a list of must-haves.

Note that they are in alphabetical order. Actually, they are all good ones, except I haven't heard much good about Youth without Youth (haven't seen it either). I would leave off a few of the action flicks and add Planet Earth and some family must-haves like Sleeping Beauty, and some concerts, but that's just me.

that's a terrible list!

Doesn't matter that it's alphabetical, where's 'Planet Earth', 'Bolt', 'Kung Fu Panda', 'PotC: Dead's Man Chest', and 'Apocalypto'.

'Ratatouille' and 'Wall-E' should be in the top 5. The list has a few good titles, but even 'Doomsday' looks better than 'Black Hawk Down'. And as much as the movie may suck, 'Australia' is phenomenal looking compared to their top ten.

This is a terrible list.

we have very little reason to be interested in them.

I'm surprised Ronin is on the list. Good movie, but the disc is hardly reference quality or even of the caliber where you'd want to show it off to family and friends who might be on the fence about Blu-ray.

Tropic Thunder a must-have? I know comedies (and movies in general) are subjective, but really?

Definately missing a few key discs, but good list.

Honestly, that's a pretty sorry 'Top 20 must-have Blu-ray Discs' CNET dropped the ball on that one.

Only really consider 2 of the 20 must haves, but that's just me. Just a bold list, that comes up way short.

Oh it's a must have in my book. I'm a little dissapointed Pan's Labyrinth isn't on the list though.
