Default What Genre have you been the slowest to convert from dvd to blu???

For me Horror and Comedy. I'm definetly more picky with my collection this time around....Also, I don't want to double dip at all if possible.

I love crappy horror movies though for some reason, ever since a kid. Being 5 and strolling the horror section, that was awesome. For instance, the cover to chopping mall. Also, watching a friday the 13th was kind of magical, like getting into your dads playboy collection when he left

Plus, idk if all these horror movies are gonna be release for blu like they were for dvd. And the transfer and extras will be sorely lacking i believe except for big time releases.

The burning
Sleepaway camp 2
Slumber party massacre
Pieces
Btw, i'll be a teen in the 80's in my second life. Going to slasher flicks with guns n roses on. Now that's living.

And comedy, again. Just don't feel like the need to upgrade except for 40 yr old virgin if a better version comes out.

talking to people at work (best buy), most of the blu fans stay away from comedies. I just support any and all blu. any genre, if i like the movie, i buy it.

though reading what you wrote, some horror flicks dont necessarily look amazing but if you have surround sound, the descent, mirrors, and the eye all sound amazing

None actually. Just about every movie benefits from HD. I know a lot of people say comedy but that's my favorite genre so it makes up the majority of my HD collection.

All i really watch these days is horror, fantasy and sci-fi so i'm up for upgrading any of these.
I won't be upgrading any of the dramas or comedies i own cause i just don't watch them enough.
Like,i watch the Godfather movies once every ,maybe 10 yrs.Not worth $90.

Comedies and dramas. By their nature, they tend to be set in "regular" locales without the use of elaborate sets or special effects and are also dialogue-driven so the speakers don't get much of a workout either. The only "normal" comedy I own on Blu-ray is The Devil Wears Prada because it was on sale. I want to get Zack & Miri Make a Porno but I'll just get that on regular DVD.

Horror movies, especially those with excellent sound design, can be downright awesome in high-def. The Strangers has an unreal sound mix that has to be heard to be believed.

I don't own DVD..........except 5 which are classics to me that haven't come out on HD yet. I sold my 500 dvd's years ago and haven't looked back. Watching a movie on dvd at this point is like the dark ages.

I'm finding I'm not really genre specific in choosing. I do agree, that being a slasher junkie, many movies in my horror collection don't really warrant an upgrade (at least until prices drop significantly).

I've always found comedies to be the one genre that don't hold up over the years (in terms of entertainment value), so if I had to pick one, that would be it.

that's it. i prefer that stuff not super detailed. anything else, blu all the way, anyone saying any style movie won't be worth it is full of it, imo.

Comedy and probably romantic comedies.

Don't see the point since i'm not huge into comedies anyway. If there's a comedy that i do enjoy, and would laugh at more than once, and it was on sale on Blu, i'd gladly pick it up.
