Default Disney may raise prices of Blu-Rays

http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/02/03...lu-ray-prices/

Bob Iger hinting that Disney might raise blu-ray prices to make up a 64% Q1 Profit drop because it's already considered a premium product with digital copies and bd-live. Disney was already only one notch below Fox in regards to overcharging, but this might put them on par. If this has no effect on non-Disney catalog titles (as in titles distributed by Miramax and others) then this won't affect me that much. Unfortunately, I think this is just the beginning of companies charging extra for selling points which were originally to justify the already-premium pricing.

I think Disney can go fuck themselves if this goes through.

Disney already charge very high price (USD50) for their premium products here already. Have not bought Cars yet due to this silly price. (Need Chinese subtitles so not buying a little cheaper on Amazon.)
Agree with your last comment! Already in effect here!

If so I will start buying my Disney movies used. I prefer to buy new but I'm already getting tired of the high prices I've been paying for High def movies over the last two years. I'm ready for prices to go down not up. Otherwise I will take advantage of the trade forum.

Wonderful. Charging us to get a useless DVD/Digital Copy and the pleasure of going on BD-Live to send Mail to people only our "Disney Friends" and play trivia.

Disney's response is ALWAYS to raise prices. Hey, theme park attendance is down, raise the admission price. Quarter earnings are down, lay off a few thousand people to make it look like there's more money on the books (they just did this).

God forbid we're in a recession that they still won't admit to. Yeah, higher prices in this economy is going to do wonders for their sales.

A-holes!

So drop those "premium features" Disney. I know I sure as hell don't use them.

I don't consider BD Live a premium. I consider it useless.
