Default Issues playing Band of Brothers blu-ray on PS3

The first night I tried watching this on my 60 gig ps3, it shut down after about 30 minutes and the red light was blinking. I checked the manual and it says if the PS3 is overheating internally, it will shutdown and the red light will blink. I tried one more time and the same thing happened, so I quit for the night. At first I thought my PS3 might be dying. The next day I played some different blu-rays, and a couple games for well over 3 hours and no over heating. I decide to pop in the Band of Brothers blu-ray again and sure enough, more problems. But this time it didn't overheat, it just froze my PS3. I tried again, it froze again after a few minutes. If I tried pausing or fast forwarding during play, it freezes. Prior to this, I haven't had any problems whatsoever playing blu-rays. I'm guessing I have some bad discs.

Has anyone else had problems with this set? I searched and couldn't find anything.

I believe it's disc 2. It's the one with episodes 3 & 4. I had random freezing during both episodes. I'll try some of the other discs when I get home from work.

I have a 40 GB PS3 (upgraded to 160 GB), have watched up to episode 7 so far and have had absolutely no issues with this set.

Where is your ps3? Is it in a tv/entertainment stand? Is there room for your ps3 to "breathe"? Because I've had mine for over 18 months and I've watched BoB through 2x and not a hiccup. Could be the fan going out on ya

I also have a 60G and did not experience any problems with any of the discs!

I just played the same disc on my 80 gig MGS4 model and it played with no problems. So yeah, it's some issue with my 60 gig model.

I was downloading some demos tonight and my 60 gig PS3 shutdown AGAIN with the red light blinking (it didn't even feel hot). An internal fan must have died. I have had some shitty luck with game consoles this gen. My xbox 360 died after a year and half and now my 60 gig is having issues, coincidentally after a year and a half. So now I have to decide from the following: Use my 2 year replacement plan with Best Buy and get a new gimped PS3 or send my non-gimped PS3 to Sony and eat $150.

Just get a little tabletop fan and leave it blowing in it. But dust will collect fast, so keep it clean.
