Default 'Planet of the Apes: 40-Year Evolution Blu-ray Collection' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of the 'Planet of the Apes: 40-Year Evolution Blu-ray
Collection' has been posted. He says this is the most handsome
collection he's seen packaged for the format yet. The Blu-rays enjoy
remastered video, DTS-MA audio, and tons of supplements (both old and
new), Recommended.

the PQ for the first planet of the apes film is easily higher than 3 1/2. Fox did a dynamic job on these, especially the first film. the work on these films match the effort put into the recent 007 installments. the box set packaging is also very impressive.

I think that POTA comes close to the work done on the Bond films. I have yet to see the rest of the films from the Apes collection, but I hear they are also good in PQ.

'''Planet of the Apes' is undeniably a science fiction classic''

I still do not see how the word "classic" translates into the figure 3.5 out of 5.. Classic - ADJECTIVE:
1. Belonging to the highest rank or class.
3.5? Whatever.

Hi there, I'm new here!
This is a very nice place to be, with a lot of interesting discussions.
Thanks!

Anyway, back to the topic...

Just wanted to say that you "region-A" guys are really lucky...
I sure wish we'd get the films in the same amazing presentation here
in Europe... But no such luck!

The one thing I'll miss the most from all the European releases is the
wonderful looking (and 200-pages thick ) book that comes in the US-box!

A boxed set is scheduled to be release in the UK, France and Germany, but
neither set will feature the book...

So guess what silly me just did... I ordered the wonderful US-Set, even
though I'll be stuck with useless (to me at least) region-A discs...
I'll replace them with the region-B discs when they come out in December,
but I sure hope one day we'll see the end of this region-coding business ...

And all this for a book...

Maybe I'll just have to get me a US-PS3 and that would take care of the
region-A titles once and for all...

In any case, I look forward to see the whole series again, and the review
has made me keener than ever...

Thanks a lot!

With best regards

Petros

Got my POTA disc from Deep Discount on Monday, watched it yesterday. Looks great. I still enjoy the movie every time I see it. Freddy

So where's the cut original opening sequence of Conquest? I anticipated this would be included in the unrated version but it's nowhere to be found.

Conquest is also my favorite of the series.

Anyone here know what the specs of the UK region B release of this set will be

Seeing as this set is region A locked I'm hoping it will have the same content other than the book; though we have been hard done by in the past
