Default 'Sukiyaki Western: Django' - High-Def Digest Review

Ken has reviewed 'Sukiyaki Western: Django.' This film isn't for everyone. This Blu-ray outclasses the Japanese import with a faithful video transfer, involving TrueHD audio, and some solid supplements. Worth a look.

I'll give it a rent- I'm curious after seeing a couple of his films.

Audition was pretty good, and I saw another one by him called Gozu which I would probably say is the most bizarre movie I've ever seen in my life.

This movie didn't even deserve a half star. I've seen alot of Miike's films but what I viewed was atrocious. I saw the Japanese version

It seems the domestic BD release includes a 98-minute cut of 'Sukiyaki Western Django' while the Japanese import features a 121 minute version.

First, allow me to apologize for completely missing the fact that this release features a shorter cut when I initially dug through the disc. Since I had already watched the film itself to review the Japanese import, I simply sampled key scenes to judge the domestic disc's audio and video. Second, let me assure you that had I realized it was a shorter cut of the film, I would have at least taken the time to watch the new version (if for no other reasons than sheer curiosity and the hope that I would enjoy this cut more).

I already updated the review with the new information, but really wanted to apologize for any confusion or disappointment my oversight caused anyone. Thanks as always for posting!

ruh roh. makes me happy i have the sony japanese one. i'm still stuck on the 1 hr spot, i stopped there (my pills at night knock me OUT, so i sometimes have to have 2 viewings for a movie), and haven't gotten back to it in months.

Ken, we all make mistakes. you own up to them, you don't just ninja edit. i respect you greatly for that. it would be interesting your take on the new cut if you found it better than the other one, not just less fatty.

What exactly was cut out? I saw the JP version, and thought it ran a bit long. If they lef the all the action scenes in, and I'll probably get this.
