Ken Brown has pulled together a list of the top horror titles he says we need on Blu-ray NOW. In anticipation of his piece, which we'll be posting as an early Halloween treat tomorrow afternoon, we're curious to hear your thoughts on the top horror movies we haven't yet seen in high-def.

i had a talk w/ teh gf last nite about this. she asked me "what are the scariest movies you haven't seen yet?" ie, she wants to see some scary shit next friday. i had no clue, as i'm not really up on knowing the best of what i've not yet seen, so i imdb'd the horror genre top 50.
Suspiria was absent, as was any Argento title, really. I'd love to see Psycho. Exorcist, BAH. i've been more scared by Sesame Street. really, the episode where Elmo cuts out Big Bird's kidneys (yes, both of them), and doesn't even have the sympathy to put him in a tub full of ice. Then eats them with some wild rice. raw. I'd love to see some of the true classics, like Night of the Living Dead (UK, i hate you), and Nosferatu. Shadow of the Vampire, one of the best vampire flicks ever, needs be put out as well. |

The Shining, The Thing, and Halloween are about as close as we come. It would be nice to have some classic horror, Aliens, and Psycho.
I've been watching horror as much as I can this month for the DVDTalk Horror Movie challenge. Really getting a taste for more classic horror, and for the entire genre. Upto 80+ films so far this month, but only handful on Blu-ray -- Cronenberg's The Fly, Kubrick's uber-creepy The Shining, Shutter, and Prom Night (last two are rentals). -comix |
