Default 'Mongol' - High-Def Digest Review

Ken has reviewed 'Mongol.' He's not sure this is for everyone, but
he says it's a resonant period drama. This Blu-ray has stunning video,
disappointing lossy audio, and no supplements. Still, it's worth a look.

The European version is released by Universal and includes DTS HD-MA, not sure if it's region free or not but I think most of their discs are.

I actually got a hold of an import copy (with the intention of reviewing it as well), but I learned the disc is region locked.

It's too bad this is devoid of extras and HD audio. I saw it in the theatres and really dug the style of it.

The UK BD has DTS-HD MA and a 22 Minute Making Of. Oddly for a Universal BD it's Region B locked though.

The UK release it's region B. I cannot talk for the rest of Europe. I doubt Universal hold the rights throughout the continent.

Warner shut down New Line, and I hope the trend of Warner not using Lossless audio isnt passing over to New Line BDs.

Superlative review Ken. I will love to see this movie. It should get home this week from Netflix. Can't wait.

Watched this last week....great film! the cinematography is glorious and I was really happy that the film focused more on the character than the blood and guts.
