Default DVDBeaver's Initial Look At "The Godfather"!!

they make clear that they are holding off on a final assessment until they are able to compare all three films.
imo the screenshots are very encouraging!

To me these two movies are the Holy Grail of gangster movies. I have the Collectors Edition and will be picking up the BD version.

Everyone's anxious to get their two cents in on this. I just hope that attention is paid to the comments of older viewers who saw these films in the theatres during their initial releases. Each film had many segments that used filtering and other camera "tricks" to evoke a feeling of Era. If that "look" is not retained, the "restoration" will be a failure for me. But I expect Success!!

I just hope I don't have to read fifty reviews decrying the "softness" or "haziness" that WILL be there in much of the footage, particularly the earlier two films, as I'm certain that Coppola has made them look as close to the theatrical picture as possible.
Just look at the Family Portrait shot from Godfather I-- it really looks like the original did in the theatre. I have high hopes for the Blu-Ray release. And for intelligent, well-researched commentary on it from our varied critical reporters.

The screenshots look very encouraging to me!

The SD versions have always underwhelmed me and I sold them off a local exchange last year. I'm anxious to get the blu-rays. This is the most anticipated film set for me. Now if we can get some Star Wars, and LOTR's I'll be set. Freddy
