Question FOX lowers MSRP

I'm seeing $34.98 MSRP for some FOX movies on Amazon. Still too much for catalogs but its start as I might buy some outside of a promo.

dude just go to BJ's or Costco... they have Fox Blu titles for as low as 18.99, if you dont have the membership card...am sure a friend or relative is bound to have it.

I saw great movie titles too, for instance Cast Away, Edward Scissorhands, Transporter, Usual Suspects, Devil Wears Prada, etc...

Fox actually lowered the MSRP on a handful of catalogs earlier this year..... all the titles that you mentioned (plus a few more here and there like Speed, LXG, etc.) have MSRPs of $29.99.

Looks like Predator and Commando are down to $19.99 MSRP and Master and Commander, I Robot and Die Hard 1-3 are down to $34.99 MSRP.

They actually have dropped alot of MSRPs. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason though. Maybe the worst sellers have dropped the most.

Digital Bits reported that Fox put MSRP at 29.99 for both X-Files movies coming out in December. I believe until now Fox MSRP'd everything at 39.99.

i think they are probbly starting to finally lower them because, Bluray is starting to really pick up steam now with prices of players falling at a decent rate, how cool is it that we will most likely be seeing sub 200 players this holiday season

10 titles have now a MSRP of $19.98 (can be found for $13-$15), and a lot have been dropped to $29.98.

They also seem to be re-thinking their region coding with day and day releases of Stargate Continium (MGM thru Fox), Prison Break Season 3 and Deception all coming out region free.

It may only be 3 so far but its a start.

Or, the more likely scenario, they're dropping their prices to the same level as other studios because nobody was buying their discs at $39.99.

You'd have thought they'd have learned this lesson with DVD but apparently not. High MRSP + limited supplements + variable quality control = difficult to sell.

Fox could learn a lesson from Sony. After a ropey start, their encodes have been consistently good, the discs have (mostly) retained DVD extras and they put frequent price promotions on their titles.

It also seems that when Fox get round to putting out a title I really want (i.e. Patton or A Bridge Too Far) they always make sure it has a glaring fault that means I can't possibly justify paying full price for it. Kudos to Fox for saving me money but it's not really what they want to be doing.
