Default $15 Release week catalogs a trend ?

It seems that all of a sudden we are getting a bunch of $ 15 titles on release day. Outbreak, Eraser, and Under Siege 2 come to mind. I would love this if this turned out to be a trend. Getting them more in line with DVD's is what is needed to gain broad acceptance.

Thoughts ?

Warner came out a few months ago and said they were going to make some aggressive price cuts on catalogue titles coming out. My suspicion is that this is the start of it for them.

I agree whole heartedly. I took my Fry's ad into Best Buy to do a price match on The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day. BB had them at $29.99 and $34.99 respectively. Fry's had them on sale for $14.99.

Even the manager doing the override commented that he would have to do that and that the price match Fry's BD sales the most.

It needs to happen and will happen IMHO. Many of these catalog titles on DVD are priced from $3.99-9.99. I have always felt that a $5 HD tax is acceptable but when catalog titles are $9.99 or less on DVD and the BD version is $22+, something is wrong.

Yeah, I hope it becomes commonplace. I was only planning on getting Under Siege 2, until I saw it was 14.99. Then I saw the cover of Gauntlet (which is mindblowing), and decided to blind buy it for 15 bucks. I think it's a smart move, because I will start buying movies I haven't seen, since the cost for 2 catalogue movies is the same as 1 newish one.
