Default Edwars Scissorhands

I was wondering from people who own this movie how the video trasfer is. I have the oppurtunity to get the SD DVD steelbook for 10 bucks and ive heard some questionable comments about the video transfer on BR. Should I justsave some money and go for the Steelbook or just bite it and pick the BR up?

It's not amazing. The film weave is pretty distracting and the image is soft overall. If you have the DVD already I wouldn't bother replacing it.

american psycho was just on sale at BB for 4 dollars, and it has more sf than the blu-ray release. so i bought that instead of and will wait for the hopeful double dip on blu-ray since the pq and aq arent great.

It looks very good. Far, far better than my 4:3 DVD. I was actually overly impressed with it after hearing some lukewarm reviews.

Steelbooks are one of the most overrated gimmicks in the history of home video. You can usually find Scissorhands for $15 or less if you know where to look (they come up for sale in the exhange forum here all the time). It's part of B1G1 sales on Amazon a lot as well.

It certainly isn't reference quality but its still a very nice looking transfer. Some scenes in particular look gorgeous and overall far, FAR better than the sd dvd version. I don't know why it received such average reviews.

Go for it. It was one of the first BR titles I picked up too.
