Default 'Futurama: Bender's Game' -- pre-release buzz

There's still no word on the series coming to Blu-ray, but Fox has announced the DTV sequel 'Futurama: Bender's Game':

No specs or extras yet, but more details should surface soon.

Street date is November 4, and MSRP $39.98.

The first of the new "movies" was so bad that they will never get another penny from me for Futurama... and I absolutely LOVED the show.

Haha, that's such an obvious title that I'm a little surprised they haven't used it before. bEnder's Game at least.

Is this going to be a spoof of Ender's Game???

I might have to watch it if that's the case. I don't think I would buy it unless it was stellar. Netflix is my homeboy.

Default Question (a little OT)...

I have no idea how animated series such as futurama, ect. are produced but as you mentioned that there "no word on the series" coming to Blu-Ray, I have to ask:

In theory, would old episodes of Futurama/The Simpsons/ect. transfer well to HD? Were the originals "shot" on "film" that would contain additional lines of resolution that weren't captured in old TV broadcasts?

YES! Actually it prolly wont look much better on Blu than standard unless its "shot" that way. I'll buy it though. I love Futurama and both movies while not as great as the show are still good. The 2nd one is alot better then the first though.

I do know for a fact that Futurama (unless re-rendered) will be SD for ever. Futurama used extensive 3D and '4D' computer animation that was only rendered at 480i and as such the show would only be an upconvert if released on BD.
