Thumbs up Transformers dated September 2, 2008.

Credit Goes to gr8one from Blu-Ray.com!

At the bottom of the article, they say that their insiders are saying Sept. 2nd is the day that we have been waiting for.

According to TV shows on DVD...

We hope it's not AstroTrain, of course! But it probably makes sense that we should, at the very least, expect Transformers and G.I. Joe classic releases to come out on DVD in time to tie in with upcoming new theatrical films of those properties, which hit the box office in 2009. We've gotten advanced, inside word (you heard it here first!) that the 2007 Transformers live-action film with Shia LaBeouf will be coming to Blu-ray Disc on September 2nd, in a 2-Disc Special Edition (similar to last year's HD DVD version)...but its doubtful that Hasbro would be ready with their first "G1" Transformers cartoon release on DVD by that time, to tie in with that release. You never know, though! Stay tuned for new reports, as developments occur.

That's great news. It will be hard to resist buying this because I hate double diping. But if there's anything new on this title then I'll probably pick it up.

The movie I'll admitt had a flawed first half. Megan Fox alone made the first half worth watching. Still the end action sequences should look and sound great on Blu-Ray.

I loved the film, and can't wait to pick it up on Blu-ray. Hopefully they'll add some new stuff in with the extra disc space.

A buddy of mine only has HD DVD so I'll probably sell him my copy for now since I'll be picking this up on Blu-ray anyways.

LOL the movie was pretty dumb, but it looked great. I want all the Shrek movies on Blu-ray though.

Who is this 'we' kemo sabe?

Seriously, part of the benefit of being purple early in the game was not having to wait.

On the plus side, since the Blu-ray profiles have advanced nicely, Transformers on Blu should be a pretty decent experience and will hopefully come loaded up with a bunch of extras. It might even reach the level of awesome (which seems to be a favorite word of Michael Bay, given his Verizon FiOS advertising a while back...)

I'm not double dipping, unless they have (significant) extra features. You'll have to pry the hd dvd version out of my cold dead hands...
