Default Best examples of 5/6/7.1 audio?

All,

I'm looking for scenes in BD movies in which you feel 'push the limits' or exhibit good use of surround sound. I have a 7.1 setup and realize not alot of movies utilize true 7.1.

Could you list the movie(s) and scene(s) in which you feel showcase good use of HD audio with the surrounds/LFE? One that I've used is the Castaway plane crash scene.

Thanks!

I guess rather than hunt for them on my own, I was just sorta wondering if there are any 'clips' you guys use to show off your equipment.

Finding bd movies with 7.1 is hard for me to find. I have over 45 titles and rarely do I come across of any that do 7.1 so that's why I haven't upgraded my receiver. I think if you really want to know which are 7.1 and best for scenes and what not just look at the blu ray reviews here on this site and look @ the specs. and review.

Here's a list but I don't believe it's complete. And as intoxicated662 mentioned, check the reviews on this site for specific movies.

Perhaps you can try the Blu-ray Demo disc.

well I personally love Live Free or Die Hard, crank it up and watch when McClane goes to pick up Farrell at his apartment. Incredible, especially the explosion.

If you want a good 7.1 showoff disc, 3:10 to Yuma has an tremendous scene to show off the 2 extra rear speakers. In one scene, the bad guys attack an armored cart. The camera switches to inside metal vehicle, and you can hear bullet hits with pinpoint accuracy from all around you.

The whole movie sounds amazing, but this scene is the first one I noticed that took full advantage of the 7.1 setup.

Another disc I enjoyed immensely is Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It's not a big, sonic movie, but the sound design is quite impressive. Very subtle but very intelligent with very nice LFE. Ditto for Hairspray.

Other easy discs:
Pearl Harbor
300 (both a visual AND auditory onslaught)
Fantastic Four (both parts)
Pirates trilogy
