Default Numerous Sources Now Say "Gladiator" BD Coming To Europe Soon!

It seems that the word is that Universal intends to release "Gladiator" as part of its international catalog schedule this year. I have now seen this news on 3 different sites including

www.homemediamagazine.com

"Universal Unveils Blu-Ray Plans"

Previously I reported a placeholder for Gladiator is on amazon.fr, and the date was actually in April. Obviously that was wrong, but it appears that "Gladiator" will be released in Europe probably at Christmas.

So the big questions are whether it will be region coded and whether it will include lossless audio.

I can't see why they would region code it since they were so big on HD DVD. I would expect no lossless audio but you never know I guess.

If this doesn't end up getting released here it could be a really big import seller I think.

They are also releasing "The Thing", and "Casino" as part of the "international" 29 titles.

I highly doubt these will be region encoded,

1) most European titles are region free
2) as Jimbo's already said Uni liked region free HD DVD
3) Its a catalogue release, which is more likely to be free then locked.

I'm thinking that they'll be released in the States as well. If not, we can always import, but I'd be surprised. I know it's been done before, but why wouldn't Universal just releasing them internationally?

Apparently they don't own the rights to this in North America - it is Paramount.
