If I'm not mistaken Badlands and Days of Heaven are Paramount releases and New World and The Thin Red Line are Universal....so...

But these films are made for HD releases. His eye captures so much in each frame that it is astounding. I would snatch them up in a second.

I would expect to wait a very long time for these. Malick's films are far from commercial successes and are probably low on the list of hi-def priorities.

Sorry, the GOOD films are probably coming in 2009 - they're still trucking out the dreck this year. At least there are a couple of decent titles before Christmas, but my credit card has actually been recovering of late. I just can't find anything I want to spend money on, and the good titles have issues (eg. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest without lossless audio - I'll wait for the double-dip, thanks).

We *might* expect to see Days of Heaven coming from Criterion; their sort-of-recent edition of the film was about as gorgeous as SD can get (from a Malick-approved HD transfer), and now that they're on the BR bandwagon I wouldn't doubt that this could be among their second or third wave of releases. Whether that would come before or after Fox and NL/WB put their Malick films on the docket is an open question (why no BR release for the New World DC is beyond me, save for possible NL to WB transition issues), and I'd seriously doubt that Paramount would be jumping on their own DoH release anytime soon (much higher-profile and/or marketable catalog releases taking precedent).
