Default Rumor: WB's The Adv of Robin Hood (from 1938) in late 2008

From the digitalbits.com Rumor Mill:

"Warner has also confirmed to us that all the elements for the Blu-ray Disc release of the 1938 classic The Adventures of Robin Hood (staring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland and Basil Rathbone) have now been completed, so it's likely that the title will street sometime before the end of the year as well."

I am wondering if they will be remastering this, rather than just bringing the HD DVD the way it was. (I found the HD DVD to be just a hair better than the upconverted standard DVD, which was excellent). I think it might be possible since 2008 is the film's 70th anniversary, and WB has a nice habit of doing things up well for such occasions.

Really? I think the HD DVD looks pretty amazing. (Never saw the DVD version for comparison, though.)

The HD DVD looks phenominal. If there's a new special edition though, I'll double-dip on it.

Happy to be proved wrong, but I don't think any of these catch-up titles will be any different from the HD DVD versions.

Me too, fer sure. I'm expecting these will be ports, though. This looks great, Forbidden Planet looks great, Casablanca looks great. Even the nitpickiest nitpicker would have a hard time justifying those masters being tossed aside.
