Default "Commando" Blu-Ray Review!!

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/dvdre...do_blu-ray.htm

this one doesn't sound like Fox did it's best work.
I can't remember if this is one of the bds that has been released in other countries or not. But regardless I think this one is a delayed title so not really surprising I guess.

Seems biased, I think the movie is one of his classics, right up there with the Terminator series, True Lies and Predator. The quality looks decent, I didn't expect much going in due to the fact it was a delayed title, but I don't own it on DVD so obviously this is the way to go.

Speaking of which, I really hope we get Eraser, True Lies and the Running Man on BD at some point.

Hopefully it looks a little better than that review.

If we're talking Arnold Schwarzenegger, could we please get some 'Conan the Barbarian' lovin'!

"Eraser" has already been talked about so we know that one is coming sooner than later.
check titles "release date pending" list on HDD.
that's the best way to know which titles are coming this year or next. most of them at least.

I will be skipping this Blu-ray release for the mere fact that it is not the Director's Cut.

Fox does that quite a bit, unfortunately with this movie I doubt we'll ever see a subsequent release that does have the DC, I just don't think there's a high enough demand for a possible double-dip on this in the future.

I got my copy today. Any negative reviews regarding the transfer are bullshit, I'm afraid. Now bear in mind that I bought the UK disc, but the PQ should be exactly the same. The clarity and detail in this transfer is apparent from the opening Fox logo. It's no longer a grainy mess, this BD pisses on ANY previous release.

For a 23 year old film with little or no re-mastering, it looks fuckin's sweet. It has grain, but it does not ruin the film, as exaggerated by various dipshit reviewers elsewhere. It looks like a proper movie, not an over processed and color-corrected Tony Scott movie. It also has some print damage and speckles, but again, nothing that ruins the movie experience.

I recommend this whole-heartedly for fans of the movie, price permitting of coarse. Don't let the negative,(and usually made up), reviews from certain sites put you off this one.

I just ordered this and Predator both so I am very encouraged by your post here, I figured that the transfer would look great for the film so old without any real history of remasters as you said. Not every movie can look as pristine as others, after all.

As long as it beats the theater run that I was too young to see (which it seems to beat, by far), then it's a worthy purchase for us fans of the movie. The review posted in OP is obviously biased against it, as he doesn't like the film, so he'll find more flaws in it than fans will.

Yes it will come out. Blu-ray is not going to die out in a year.

Obviously not (this is a whole new discussion), but Blu-ray and DVD will co-exist with each other for a long, long time so even if the market is there, you not buying it won't help Fox's decision to eventually market a re-issue. Blu-ray will get cheaper to manufacture, but at that point, DVD will be even cheaper, so both formats will be in the future of media distribution.

Anyway Commando being issued a re-release in an uncut, DC-form is a little different than Live Free or Die Hard coming out with an uncut edition, for example. I mean, with that said, True Lies hasn't even gotten a proper release on DVD yet! Same with a lot of Van Damme's classics.
