Default Not a sale. Best Buy Cuts Blu-ray Disc to $20 bucks

Less than a week after Best Buy dumps HD DVD without giving the beleaguered format supporters a chance at close out prices on movie disc Best Buy rubs salt in their wounds by rewarding Blu-ray Disc users by permanently (not a sale) dropping the price of many titles to $19.99.

Here is the link to the article:

HD DVD'ers last words; But... but... but without competition high definition media will double in price.

I don't think BB has much of a choice. I continue to see the same discs day after day in the exact same numbers. It is obvious that Blu-Ray is not moving very fast--at least at this particular store.
and no I'm not trying to be all doom and gloom regarding bd. I personally want it to thrive more than anything. but the prices need to come down NOW. not later imo.

Perhaps aggressive movie titles will actually cause the more expensive hardware to move faster off shelves.
I sure hope so.

It's about time...Best Buy was (is) one of the most expensive retailers of blu-ray. I had gotten to the point where I never bought anything there, because the discs I wanted were 29.99 or 34.99. Ridiculous prices when you could get the same stuff on Amazon for 20-25.

Smartest thing they could possibly do. If digital downloads are the future, then who you think is going to be completely fucked over? BEST BUY. They're already hurting from digital music sales taking off. Sure they sell iPods but don't make much on them. They rely on people buying the accompanying service plans as well as the accessories to go along with them.

The more they can do to prevent video-based media from following the music trends, the better. Better for US, better for THEM.

I'd consider Bonnie & Clyde for $20.
