Default Not impressed with Blu-ray reliability!

I just became a dual supporter and one thing I already notice is Blu-Ray playback issues.....
1) I have the Prestige and it run great!
2)I have resevoir dogs also runs great!
3)Casino royale would freeze at random spots during the film returned ..and new one has BETTER PQ and does not freeze!
4) Layer Cake just watched and it freezes too!..WTF!

I KNOW it is not my player because all other films run perfectly.......So is this just a Sony quality control issue or what!?.....also at the best buy Langley BC Canada...the lady at returns was commenting to me that Blu-rays are always being returned........has anyone else noticed this?..Thanks in advance

i own 20 blu-ray movies and have rented at least a dozen more, and not ONE single time has any of the discs frozen or had any problems at all.

Maybe it was a bad shipment from the same distro facility where you got layer cake and casino royale? I really have no idea to be honest.

If your ps3 is connecting wirelessly to your network then it sometimes causes freezing in some Blu-ray titles. Just disable the wireless (or turn off automatic sign-in) before watching movies and you should be fine.

Redbawlz, don't know if this is the problem for you but it seems that if you have the networking active on the PS3 it can cause freezes and brief pauses during playback. Disable the network connection and it should be fine. Apparently firmware updates created this problem!!

I unchecked the automatic login box and that has stopped the freezing problem. Coincidentally, that was one of the changes in the 1.5 & 1.51 updates. Never had a problem before the updates and I use the PS3 for all my DVD (SD & HD) viewing and have done so since December.

Or if that doesn't do it, try this one:

Quote:
I spent an hour on the phone with a Sony tech, and she had me reset the system in the menu (Restore Default Settings, NOT the Restore PS3 Settings). Then, turn off the power and turn off the main power in back. While holding the power on button in front, turn on the power in back and release the front power button AFTER the second beep. You will need to redo all your settings since the reset will clear everything, and you should be good to go.

I had freezing like everyone is talking about every time I watched a blu-ray movie after up dating the firmware to 1.51, but after the above steps I have had NO more problems. Has nothing to do with the network, I discussed this with the tech in depth. Follow what I wrote above and it will cure the freezing problem.

SINCE doing this fix, I have watched Kingdom of Heaven, Blackhawk Down, Fifth Element, Underworld Evolution, Into the Blue, The Last Samurai (twice), The Italian Job and Silent Hill with NO freeze ups at all. Before this I couldnt get thru any of them without at least two freezes per movie, sometimes more.

No no, go to your network settings and disable internet connection. I do believe though if you use a ethernet cable you wont have this problem. Layer Cake froze on me a couple of times as well.
