Default Fox lowers it's catalog prices!

Finally a move in the right direction from Fox:

Quote:
In other news today, you Blu-ray fans should be happy with this: 20th Century Fox has just lowered the SRP of many of its older catalog Blu-ray Disc releases by $10, cutting them from $39.99 to $29.99. These include titles like Chain Reaction, Speed, Fantastic Four, The Omen etc. A select few additional titles have been price reduced by about $5 each from $39.99 to $34.99 (Kingdom of Heaven, etc). New and more recent titles remain priced at $39.99. Amazon has already started reducing their prices accordingly.

Fox pricing is obscene, so this is welcome. It's still too high though, they should chop another $10 off.

Come on Amazon, drop I, Robot and Independence Day to the new MSRP and I'll buy em.

I don't mind paying a high price too much if its a movie I really like but why can't Fox put some special features on their damn discs? The only discs I know of with special features are the Die Hard movies, Simpsons and I think Mr and Mrs Smith. Cast Away only has commentary. Die Hard 4 and Mr and Mrs Smith are only the theater rated versions and we have no unrated Blu-rays for those titles.

Fox is responsible for Fight Club which is my favorite movie and really hope comes to Blu-ray but I'm afraid they'll release it bare bones and I'll cry myself to sleep for a while.

Considering this is Fox I'd guess they've realized that they've soaked as many early adopters as possible on the titles that are getting the prices reduced.

While the price reductions certainly aren't a bad thing, I'll take Fox seriously when their new-to-blu-ray catalog titles like I, Robot or Independence Day get $29.99 MSRPs.

Its just weird that Disney's No Country for Old Men - a brand new release with Academy awards - is less expensive than I, Robot. Hey Fox, guess which one I bought??
