Default Ex HDDVD studios remain region free?

Paramount and Warner where 100% region free with Blu-ray/HD-DVD, and Universal being region free on HD-DVD, but with all of them now exclusively blu-ray, will we still be seeing 100% region free releases from them?

Does anyone anticipate Sony and the rest of the Blu-ray group now enforcing region codings on future titles due to the lack of High Definition disc competition?

Region Free is the way to go...now if we can only put an end to BD+.

I doubt it very much. The regions are part of the format, ala SD DVD, and they didn't release region free SD DVD releases.

It's the biggest issue I have with Blu, I like a lot of different types of films that originate from different parts of the world and I doubt I'll see 90% of them on Blu (region B)

What's the problem with BD+, isn't it transparent to the end user?

But that would also mean that we wouldn't see any internet features, right?

I don't think BD+ governs internet features.

Not if you want to ripp a movie to put onto your iPod.

Bizarrely the super DRM happy Fox have made a few early steps towards providing a solution for this with what they did on the Family Guy DVD recently. Hopefully others will follow.

Paying for it...isn't transparent.

I don't like the idea of "increased" cost to sell me something that I don't need. Instead of offering "expensive" but "protected" media...why not offer it cheaper? If you make the product cheap and accessible, then the less likely it will be "pirated" because the efforts would be moot.
