Default 'I, Robot' -- pre-release buzz

Fox has finally rescheduled 'I, Robot,' which was originally due late last year:

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/irobot.html

It's now due March 11 (the same day as another Will Smith sci-fi blockbuster, 'Independence Day').

Specs are as previously announced, including 1080p/MPEG-2 video, DTS-MA audio, multiple commentaries, deleted scenes, a trivia track and new dual-menu navigation system.

Retail is $39.98.

Why does everyone hate on MPEG2 so much? Does everyone who does sit around and complain about HDTV broadcasts too, since they're all MPEG2?

I believe it when I see it on the shelf. My faith in Fox and keeping release dates is at the minimun.

actually it appears that ALL 6 titles are mpeg2. That seems really odd to me if true. I just don't get it.

Still when all recent blu's are AVC why suddenly go back to MPEG2, hopefully its still a good transfer like Kingdom of Heaven.

I don't hate MPEG-2, there have been some decent transfers with MPEG-2. I would rather that they use AVC for a high profile title (which happens to be a favorite of mine) such as this.
