Default 'The Invasion' -- pre-release buzz

Warner has announced the much-troubled 'Invasion' remake is hitting Blu-ray on January 8:

    http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/invasion.html

The Nicole Kidman-Daniel Craig thriller gets 1080p/VC-1 video and Dolby TrueHD audio, plus extras including a new documentary and three making-of featurettes.

There are no exclusives, and content is the same as the HD DVD, which is also streeting the same day.

List price is $34.98 (versus $39.98 for the HD DVD combo).

I enjoyed it up until the terrible ending. It looks like it was a film that fell victim to too many research screenings.

I missed this one in theaters. I personally don't see how a movie with Craig and Kidman could be terrible, but people I've talked to say this one was a mess. Think I'll give it a rent.

Long time lurker, first time poster...

This movie was so horrible, the only reason I would buy it is so I could spit on it and set it on fire.

Seriously, stay away from this garbage.

With this being the fourth version of the original classic, I would rather see a restored, re-mastered, edition of the original 1956 "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" starring Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter with the Criterion & Republic LD extras. Filmed in glorious B & W and shown in 2.35:1 LB format this version still has the goods and remains a very effective sci-fi thriller - much more so than the three inferior re-makes it's spawned.

I thought it was all right. I will be picking this up. of course that may be because of the fact that I have never seen any of the other "Body snatcher" versions.

Does anyone know why exactly this was delayed? I'm wondering because I just bought it today at a Saturday Matinee store that had it out on the shelf. I haven't opened it yet so I want to be sure before I open it that it wasn't delayed due to some technical issue or upgrade that was being done to it and I got a disc that the store received but didn't send back or some other scenario.

considering how messed up most wal-marts are, chances are you can do that in store without even having to buy it. just a thought.....

I would look forward to this, when the inevitable ebay sellers throw tons on there at 13, 14, like other new release movies that weren't popular (see: The Queen, Running with Scissors)

I haven't seen this, but it sounds like what it needs is a "director's cut", or at least alternate ending(s) included (assuming there were any).
