Default Pixar shorts worth it?

How good are the shorts? PQ? AQ? Is it worth the money?

Seems silly to buy the shorts when they will most likely end up on future Pixar BD movie releases. For instance, Cars BD includes "One Man Band" and "Mater and the Ghostlight". "Lifted" is also included with Ratatouille.

For pure convenience it is. I hate having to swap discs like mad to find the shorts that are scattered over the 2-disc DVDs. Now I wouldn't pay the ridiculous MSRP of 29.99, but with the $10 off special and a RZ certificate I was able to grab it at Best Buy today for ~$10, which is a pretty good deal if you have kids that love the shorts like mine do.

I rented a copy from Netflix. It runs about 54 mins not counting the Sesame Street shots and the history of PIXAR short(none of which I will watch). The PQ is okay on the early shorts but really kicks it into high gear around the Tin Toy short and onwards. The Mater short, Jack-Jack attacks, Boundin', and Lifted are really 5 star PQ. I don't know if purchase is justified as, mentioned above they will most likely be included on other Pixar releases.

I seriously thought about buying this when I purchased Cars & Ratatouille, but the 54 minute run-time just did not seem worth it to me.

How about extras? I would think a History of Pixar or a studio tour would be a no brainer?

I wouldn't know, I simply saw the 54 minute run-time listed on the disc and felt it was not worth the expense. Perhaps that will change if I am impressed by the reviews.

Disney and the BDA should really price the Pixar Shorts at $9.99 or something and make it a demo disc for Blu-ray. Its ideal for the purpose. They will sell tons and while selling Blu-ray also.

I agree for the most part. Though that Tin Toy short didn't blow me away with stunning PQ. But from "One Man Band" onward, fuggidaboudit.
