Default Oldboy... big disappointment.

Wow, the PQ on this Blu is a huge letdown. This was one of the three I picked up today (along with Ratatouille and Pixar Shorts), and the transfer is a fairly shoddy. Still has spots and dust, although it is a step up from the DVD. I'd give it 3 stars out of 5 tops. I sold my 3 disc DVD on eBay to buy this one, and while most of the features and everything are here, the PQ is a letdown.

Just a word of warning. Ratatouille, on the other hand, looks fantastic, but that was expected.

darn.. yeah I just picked this up too along with Ratatouille, Cars and the Shorts Collection.

I never had Oldboy on DVD though, because I was waiting for it to come out in high def.

Sorry, you expect TARTAN to get it right first time? Did I read that correctly? I need to lie down after that...

There's photos on AVSFORUM, from the UK DVD vs UK Tartan BluRay, and the difference are quite big.. worthy of HIGH Def upgrade...

LOL An asiab movie without dust and dirt.. that would be news to me

Yep Halloween is amazing on Blu-ray but isn't Oldboy a different studio?

Well, if Tartan is going to do one of their most popular movies as their first release, they should at least make an effort.

i thought it looked pretty good. i'd probably give it a 4 star. i really wish the audio was PCM or TrueHD instead of 7.1 DTS-MA. i also own the single disc and 3-disc tin dvd editions. it's a noticable upgrade from these.
