Default Why region code back catalogue stuff?

How stupid is this, just found out that King Of New York which is a 17 year old film is region locked!

How shit is that...

I can just about understand region coding for newer stuff (But this is why HD-DVD will always get my money)

It's because people don't want to make a sale. They just want to put out a product out there, sales doesn't matter. All that matter is that it is out. Consumers ? A pain. If we could get rid of consumers, it would be great. I mean, they think.

And this is why Newline(New Release only), Fox, Disney and Liongates will never release any HD DVD ever (Delayed release in the case of New Line)....

Newline, Disney enforce Region on new title

Fox and Lionsgates on most titles...

The main reason for region coding is to protect the theaters but the second reason is to protect smaller distributors in other countries. They want to give the partner distributor time to release the disc on Blu-ray also. I don't like region coding at all and think market economy should work here but the studios think otherwise.

So there is a reason even if I don't agree it's a good one.
