Default Powerdvd Ultra, Pioneer BDC-2202 Vista Problems

Dear forumers,

I have the below setup:

Olevia 42inc LCD connected via HDMI to a HTPC
Nvidia 8600GTS
3 GB Ram
Q6600 Quad-Core
PowerDVD Ultra 7.3
and Pioneer BDC 2202
Vista 32bit

This machine plays many older blu-ray discs great such as Corpse Bride, Descent, Casino Royal

However, it just refused to play newer discs I've bought such as Troy, Vacancy, Pirates series. The symptom is a completely blank screen with no sound and no display. I know the system is running, because I can here program sounds of programs I ran in the background, but I can't get out of the blank screen so I have no choice but a reboot. Can anyone help me solve this problem? This system do work for SOME movies, but too bad I am having problems with more and more newer films.

Thanks a great deal.

Default newer blu ray disks won't play on bdc 2202

I have the same problem, older BD disks play fine, newer just a black screen or lockup at disk menu.

Disappionting because older titles played great. I thought it was because my system is running XP (no DX10) but BD played fine on early titles and I see you are having the same problem with Vista.

You should try setting the player to start in a window with the control bar set to display to see weather you can eject or exit to desktop or your system is really locked up.

I believe the disks that lockup at disk menu are caused by my lack of DX10 or a JAVA problem, but the lockup blackscreen seems like a firmware problem. I hope they release an update soon that solves the problem. I have found Pioneer support to be MUCH more responsive than Intervideo (who have been completely unresponsive).

This machine is a fresh install of XP SP2 with the only other software installed being WinDVD.

Core 2 E6600
4Gb RAM
P35 Mobo
Nvidia 7950 GT 512
DX9c
BDC 2202
PowerDVD 8 LE
