Nice to see Sony making some surprise releases like this. Will definitely be getting the Evil Dead unrated Blu-ray, but will probably pass on Night of the Living Dead (already have the Australian Umbrella release).

Kinda curious to know what transfer Sony will be using for NotLD; Twilight Time's PQ had awful colour grading, Umbrella's looked like an older scan but still looked fantastic, or is Sony going to give this a brand new scan?

Oddly enough, we're about a week away and there still aren't any pre-order options up yet on Amazon.ca or Best Buy Canada. These aren't American exclusives, are they?

Well, that $100 spent to get the NotLD remake from Twilight Time was a waste of money.

I'm very curious to see how NOLD 90 turned out. Apparently Sony did a 4K transfer and then the cinematographer requested the color timing changes for the Twilight Time release. That master has been tooling around Europe for a bit - I imported a German disc that still had it - so I'm hoping they're not just recycling things here and have actually fixed that darker color timing.

Well here's a quick comparison between the Umbrella blu-ray and the Twilight Time blu-ray.

As you can clearly see, the Umbrella blu-ray looks much, MUCH better. And Umbrella's release included new interviews with Tom Savini, Patricia Tallman, and effects artists John Vullich and Everett Burrell. All the older extras from the DVD are on this release too.

As I understand it, Sony did a 4k scan and then spoke to the cinematographer on the phone. The cinematographer did not actually supervise or even watch the transfer prior to release. He claims that his instructions were misinterpreted by Sony's color graders. Sony then gave the master to Twilight Time.
