Default 'The Edge of Seventeen' - High-Def Digest Review

Shannon has reviewed 'The Edge of Seventeen'. He says this is a terrific comedy, one that didn't get enough attention at the box office. This Blu-ray is highly recommended.

This isn't a film that would ordinarily catch my eye, but based upon the review I am considering it. It's now in my Amazon shopping cart.

But I do have to disagree with some of the commentary within the review. I absolutely love comedy and, while I greatly enjoy the comedy from the 80's, I also enjoy more modern films, and find them to be just as hilarious, if not more so.

I just put in a reservation for both the DVD and the Blu-Ray at my local library. I always prefer to watch before I buy.

OK, Shannon, this was a test for you...as a man who had spent my impressionable teenage years watching John Hughes movies (and the like), a comparison to those "golden oldies" of my youth was bold. While I agree with RobG to some extent (I like some of the more modern comedies as well), I decided to watch this with my wife last night.

I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in quite some time. And, like so many of those 80's comedies, this one not only made me laugh but also had a tremendous amount of heart and rang true. Although my daughter is only 7 (but going on 15), the angst displayed and the relationships with parent/teachers/teens seemed authentic.

Nice review Shannon! This will definitely be a purchase for us (rented last night).

Actually I agree with most of your reviews Shannon . Just that a comparison to the late great Hughes raised my eyebrow...but it was an apt comparison.
