Even though this is a transfer done in 2011, I would LOVE to see this great looking film on UHD blu ray! It would be one awesome upscale!! I never had the other editions so I jumped on this 40th Anniversary Edition blu ray.

I've never seen this movie before, but yeah, should I just wait for a 4K transfer?

Dr. Kain, no, man, get it and watch it. It's cheap and it already looks great enough for you to go ahead and remedy such a crazy gap in your viewing. You haven't seen Taxi Driver?!

There's a super high bit version of this which is probably better, so why buy this? I would buy it on UHD however.

I was thinking the same thing. 4000 posts and 8 plus years at a site that focuses on movies and has not seen Taxi Driver.

Kinda like a gun site with a person who doesn't know what a 9mm is........effing crazy.

Chauvinism compells me to give a shout-out to the excellent cover art of this edition (from the original poster), made by a Belgian artist - the late, great Guy Peellaert.

It's important to note that the higher bit rate release has absolutely zero extras. The picture quality is marginally better, but not enough to make it the release of choice. (I sold my copy after reviewing it and kept the 2011 release.) If supplements aren't important to you at all, then by all means pick up the "Mastered in 4K" release. But the extras on this and the 2011 release are absolutely spectacular, so any big fan of this film should definitely choose either of those editions.

There's a ton of great movies I haven't seen yet. I never saw The Godfather Trilogy until I got the BD two years ago. I also had never seen Goodfellas, Blade Runner, Laurence of Arabia, Double Indemnity, Touch of Evil, hell, any Noir, any Hitchock film, Halloween, and many many others until they were out on BD.

My parents didn't let me watch R rated movies when I was a kid and when I was a teen all I cared about were explosions, effects, and action scenes.

EDIT:

So I came across this at Target today and it was only $12, so I picked it up. I'll let you guy sknow what I think of it after I watch it.

My local Target has this, so I may go over and have them price-match Amazon ($9.99).

.... and so I did. I saw another customer pick one up and put it in his cart too.
