Josh's post about this one certainly did not give it a 4.0 score.
Luke Likes it, Josh not so much.
Blind Buy for me?

Josh hasn't seen it. Josh's thing is to shit on almost every new release, in the bonus view, every week. It's his gimmick. He hasn't seen the high majority of the new releases that he takes a dump on. It's all tongue-in-cheek. He knows that he won't see most of them, and doesn't care to. That doesn't stop him from shitting on them. I'm assuming you're referring to his remarks about this film in the new blu-ray release blog post, from the beginning of this week, correct?

I don't think it was Josh, but somebody here savaged this in on their theatrical review. I saw it and don't think their comments were really fair, but movies about the (particularly American) military trigger certain responses. Michael Bay deserves most of the criticism he gets, and a fair amount of his movies are just unwatchable for me, but I think this is perhaps his best work.

Phil reviewed the theatrical release and gave it 2 stars:

The movie also has negative aggregate scores at Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic:

Well, Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 51% among reviewers but says 86% actual real people like it. This makes total sense - Reviewers know Michael Bay fodder and do an accurate analysis of the movie but to your average movie goer - explosions, gunfire, fun fun fun. I think if it were just explosions and gunfire it would be total trash so they still have to give you a thin plot.
Metacritic a 6.6/10 - meh.

I think R-rated Michael Bay makes much better movies than pg-13 Michael Bay. This movie was surprisingly good and only had a couple of 'MERICA moments in it. For being as long as it was, it flew by. Amazing picture and sound. I picked up the Steelbook from BB. I like this about as much as Black Hawk Down.

I think I remember this one being the one Phil didn't like for having too many American Flags. LMAO
