Default 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' - High-Def Digest Review

Enois has reviewed 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'. He says this action-packed zombie film that reimagines Jane Austen's classic novel as a silly horror-comedy will definitely be fun for some, although the dry humor may put off others. Worth a look.

Nice review, Menois. I missed this in the theater and will have to pick it up soon.

Thanks! Hope you enjoy it because I think the movie is pretty devisive -- some hate for the concept alone while others just love it. My thinking is that if you had good time with 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,' you might get a kick out of this too.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

I just watched this and my god, what an utter piece of shit this movie was. Where do I even begin? Well, not only is it one of the worst movies of the year, it makes Gods of Egypt look like a masterpiece. Still not as bad as Meet the Blacks, though. This movie is a mess. The characters are poorly written and there is not a single shed of chemistry between them. Even Lena Hedley, Charles Dance, and Matt Smith are clearly phoning it in. I've seen less wood in a forest compared to this movie's acting. Hell, the last scene with Matt Smith looked like he made this face that read, "Yes, my part in this movie is done!" Also, for a movie about zombies there was barely any zombie action. The plot, if that is what you can call it made no sense as if it was just skipping to the next scene without even finishing the previous one. All of it was garbage, the dialog was stilted as the actors were clearly just reading their lines, and the effects were hideous (not to mention most of them were CGI effects). I give this undead nightmare a 3/10. Why a 3? Because I gave Gods of Egypt a 4, that's why.

Was this better or worse than Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter? LOL I ask because I actually thought Lincoln was a fun movie.

Oh god, I thought that movie was bad too. Not sure which I would consider worse as both were down right boring. Then again, ALVH didn't have a forced romance with no development. There was nothing to believe Darcy and whatever the main girl's name was actualy fell in love. When he propsed to her it was like, "WHAT?!" Did they suddenly fall in love with each other off screen? Also, why fight and then have him explain himself in a friggin letter? How about actually explaining himself BEFORE even proposing? This was just down right dumb. Not to mention his accent kept changing.

Haha thanks. I may still check this out, definitely a renter.

These types of movies I wish were about 90 minutes but at 108 I'll take a gamble I think

This was far more gratifying to me than Abe, but I had fun with Abe and it's sheer determination to go swinging for the fences.

For me what I really loved was how well they integrated Pride and Prejudice into the story, unlike ALVH, they really did know their Bennet sisters and I easily bought into the concept of them fighting the undead. I won't say it was fine cinema, but on a thumbs up or down rating, it easily got a thumbs up.

The Bennet sisters were lifeless, unoriginal, cliche fanservice.

It's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, did you not expect them to be a significant part?
