Default Apocalypto is definetly the best looking blu-ray!

Just bought this movie from Best Buy (a blind purchase) and popped into the ps3. I couldnt believe the pq quality. Yes i have pirates, casino royale, departed etc and this is by far and away the best pq quality ive ever seen (pirates is close to be fair). The movie was amazing to. I cant grasp how this movie only got a 4 star pq rating on this site. Can someone explain that to me?

Watch Mission Impossible 3 or Letters from Iwo Jima for comparison. Those two look exceptional.

I didn't make it all the way though Apocalypto. Too much bludgeoning violence. I can stand gunfire and swords, but I can't take too much of people beating one another with clubs, for some reason.

I agree. I own about 30 Blu-Rays now, and Apocalypto is the reigning king
of picture quality. POTC is a lot more popular because it's accessable to
anyone, but it's not quite as pretty.

I agree with most of the above. Pirates 2 is very very nice indeed. However, for sheer fine object detail and three dimensionality Apocalypto is just a tad better. However, you can't demo Apocalypto to just anyone as IMO the best looking scene is the temple/sacrifice sequence and you cant show that to your Mum, sister, nephews etc can you?

Davy Jones is much more family friendly...

I too bought Apocalypto on impulse. The pq is astounding!! I dont know if I would say it is the best looking blu-ray flick...but it is in the top 3, next to Superman Returns and POTC.
