Matthew has reviewed 'Home Alone: Ultimate Collector's Edition'. He says this is an excellent holiday gift. Here's why...

I would have preferred both movies to be remastered properly, but if they did that, how could they bleed any more money out of the franchise? $38 for one new remaster? I think I will pass. If Fox want my money, they will have to do better.

"High-Df Digest Review" eh?

Erm, wasn't Joe Pesci's character named Harry though? I fairly distinctly remember the tall gangly one (Marv) whining "Hawwy?" (yes, I typed it like that on purpose) from some scene or another, and Joe Pesci saying "Marv" in tones of annoyance. Or is my memory more screwed up than I thought?

I've seen Home Alone 3 a fair few times. Was OK, I liked the traps and all.

I saw one of the follow ups but I'm not sure which one TBH. Utterly forgettable and I don't remember much about it at all...Actually, almost nothing except surprise that there existed a Home Alone I hadn't heard of until I ran across it....

It really was.

The best part of that bit was, they were mocking the Hollywood sequel machine by calling it 'Home Alone 5'...because 5 Home Alones would just be ridiculous.

You're right that was a miss on my part, my brain was pretty numb by that point. Thanks for the catch!

Matt: "While it says that 'Home Alone' has been given the full remastered treatment, some expectations need to be kept in check."

The 1st one was remastered?

I certainly do appreciate it when the review has side by side
screen caps of the remastered vs the previous edition.
That "tradition" in reviews seems to be in the best practices
of HDD quality standards. Perhaps when the stand-a-alone
edition of the 1st film is released, that review might be done.
Pls, pretty pls.

So wait, the first movie is not a 4K remaster?

From what I understand, it indeed WAS a 4K remaster.

After looking at a few reviews of this new "remaster", I'll just stick with my original blu-ray of Home Alone.
