Default 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' - High-Def Digest Review

Steven Cohen has reviewed Matthew Vaughn's 'Kingsman: The Secret Service', He says this is a postmodern espionage flick that celebrates the genre. This Blu-ray features exceptional video and audio, while the extras are comprehensive and worthwhile. Recommended.

I liked this movie a lot. Review seems to indicate it would be given more than 3 1/2 stars. BTW I don't care for this sites new setup. Maybe if there was still a star breakdown of the given categories I would see what kept this from a higher rating.

The review does read very positively. The film itself rating did get 4
stars.

I don't know what causing the "sites new setup" comments. But I'm
guessing it's from the mobile viewing experience. The internet world
does suck more with the popular move see the world through a 5
inch screen. How did we move backwards in this technology? Damn
kids, I say. Get off my lawn!

These same kids do nothing but test, even at the movie theaters instead of watching the movie. SIGH.

Not really a kid but I am viewing on an IPad so maybe that is the issue. Was never a problem before so I assumed changes were made.

You always have the option to view the full site if you go to the bottom of the main page and click that option.

Ok thanks, much better again. Not sure why the format changed on my iPad in the first place. Sorry for any negative comment as I was clearly wrong.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie. I like the goofy conventions that are mostly associated with the Roger Moore era of Bond films. Since the current Bond films aren't interested in those conventions, it's nice to see somebody putting them to use.

I probably could've done without some of the more meta aspects of the film such as characters sitting around discussing the genre of film they are in. Matthew Vaughn did this in 'Kick-Ass' too and I find it just takes me out of the movie. I mean, that sort of thing was clever back when 'Scream' came out in the 90s, but now I just find it distracting.

I don't think I would agree with Cohen that the film avoids drifting into parody/spoof territory. It's not as mocking as something like 'Black Dynamite', but it still crosses that parody line too many times to ever completely come back.

All and all, the flick is a good time. And I have to give credit where credit is due, that brawl in the church was probably the most savage thing I've ever seen put on screen. That was just nuts!

No, this was nothing like a Roger Moore Bond film, thankfully.
