Default No More Simpsons DVD / Blu Ray Sets.

Regardless of what you think of the modern Simpsons, I would've been nice to own the entire series on disc. Season 17 was the final set.

Here's the scoop:

Well, knowing it's Fox, nothing surprises me at all. Piracy is a lame excuse. More realistically it's because they did not sell as many as they hoped for. They probably had decent sales, just not what they expected.
They did not release NYPD Blue on dvd past season 4, but turns out, they did 5-13 in the UK. So of course I imported them.

I can't imagine many wanted any of the sets after Season 12...and that's pushing it.

I see nothing that states this pertains to BD. DVD is no surprise since at the rate they were going, there was no way the series would be out before DVD went bye bye.

Usually by now, someone from the show would tweet about the commentary for the upcoming season being recorded, or it will soon be recorded. Al Jean stated on twitter the commentaries were on hiatus until they can work out more kinks with the FXX "Every Simpsons Episode" app. Al sounded like BR's were done, too: https://twitter.com/AlJean/status/585822651651727361

While bummed, especially because I love the Treehouse of Horror episodes every year, I'm not that surprised in this instance - that's a lot of content to keep putting out and the show isn't stopping any time soon. Its why I stopped buying South Park seasons way back, I'd reconsider if there ever is a complete series set, but nearly 30 sets is a lot to buy.

So basically they are telling people they don't want their money, so go ahead and illegally download the episodes and put them onto your own disc and make your own cover art.

Fine with me, I have every season up through 16, and that was the last one I was buying anyway. 15 and 16 were questionable, but I still found plenty of laughs. I think 17 is where there's like a whole new writing staff and where it just blows from that point.

Season 6 and 7 is far as I go for the show before it started to get crappy. I stopped watching the show after that.

I haven't seen an episode of Simpsons in a long time, let alone a recent one. I stopped browsing cable for the most part, several years ago. Never got around to buying any of the Simpsons on DVD. I did see trailers for some of the eps in the last few years and some of them look like they would have been entertaining. Series animation looks really clean compared to the early years especially.
