Stupidity at its finest. I was never a fan of this crap anyway. People will run to streaming, and that is fine with me.

Still cheaper than the $5/night we all paid to rent VHS tapes in the 1980s or 1990s (and later DVDs in the 1990s and 2000s) at Blockbusters and Mom & Pop shops.

I received the same message. I told them this full 1/3 price increase would surely slow down my rentals significantly. There is plenty to watch without running out the door to retrieve and return a disc . . .

I am afraid that other than Family Video, this is really the end for physical renting. Honestly, I say again...good riddance.

For me, it will pit purchasing against digital streaming and form a full competition that will measure quality against quality. I am confident that each will hold their place.

Each community will still have its mom and pop shops to contend with, my area has a couple.
Physical rentals still also have competition from Netflix by mail as well-bad move by RedBox.

It's weird how Redbox needs to raise prices when they constantly keep
sending out FREE CODES! Perhaps only 20% of my rentals were actually
paid by me. Texting me codes. E-mailing me codes. Publicly available
codes.

I was actually thinking something was terribly wrong with their business
model will all the free codes they were distributing.

But now with a price increase coming, I wonder if that signals strength?
