Josh has reviewed the Criterion release of David Lynch's 'Eraserhead'. He says this Blu-ray features a brand-new video transfer that's the best the film has ever looked. If you're a Lynch fan, this is the copy to own. Highly recommended.

If there is a living embodiment of the sentiment behind the phrase, "art is subjective," David Lynch has to be it. I can somewhat appreciate Eraserhead for what it is, but nevertheless I find it repulsive and I will never watch it again.
I hope your gamble pays off, my friend. I would advise against it, however. |

It will just be another filler in your Criterion collection.

Do people really not like this? It's one of my absolute favorites.

Hopefully we get more Lynch movies from Criterion. How about doing Inland Empire next.

A domestic release of The Elephant Man would be excellent.
Ditto Mulholland Drive. And Lost Highway, too. I doubt Universal has any interest in releasing either film on Blu-ray. Personally, I'm hoping Criterion find a way to grab the rights to The Straight Story. Disney and live action catalog on BD got together like Werner Herzog and David Lynch's donut holes. I'd prefer something that wasn't shot in shitty standard definition... but maybe that's just me? Last edited by Super-VHS; 09-13-2014 at 06:16 PM. |

While there are a few Criterion titles that seem out of place in my collection, when viewed as a whole, I'd say there are only 5 or so that could be deemed "filler", and that's just because I blind bought them with little knowledge about them, and have still yet to watch them.
As for this title, I just finished 'Twin Peaks' for the first time, and I've been a fan of 'Lost Highway' since NIN released their single for The Perfect Drug. So I have a taste for Lynch, so this blind buy would be less of a gamble than one might think. |
