I think Luke's criticism of this film is a bit harsh, and it comes off as a bit juvenile to say, "being as old and irrelevant as it is (65 years), this seems more like a title for people of my grandparents' age to add to their collections and share with their great grandkids." I agree that this is the weakest of the August 12th releases (mostly by default; considering these are two shorts), but to say this is a title for your grandparent's collection just comes off as being a bit naive and disrespectful.

That being said, I've always been a far bigger fan of the Mr. Toad short, than the Ichabod short.

Has Disney stopped doing "disneyview" on 4:3 titles? In case you don't know, I'm talking about the thing where they fill the bars on the sides with various art that changes with the scenes.

I find that changing colors outside the frame to be very distracting. To each their own.

Disney as of late has been dropping the ball on many releases. In the case of this movie though, they used less effort. I am sure it is a huge upgrade of any previous releases. It is not a masterpiece and should not get millions of dollars to restore it. So overall they probably did well.

"For fans only."

Well, duh! How many movies do you buy that you're thinking, "I hated this movie when I saw it the first time, but the review said it was a 'Must own' so I guess I have to buy it?"

I hate the stupid, pithy summaries like that. For fans only. Must own. There's no such thing as a must own movie and unless you're a film student all films are for fans only.

Well, I got the triple feature set. No regrets. I'm an animation fan though. Fun and Fancy Free is the stronger title.

I grew up on all of these. Even own the Disney Treasure sets.

Any game that features paid loot boxes should be rated AO.

I too don't like the For Fans Only rating. For the reason if you've never
seen it (which is often the case), how can you KNOW if you're a fan or
not?

Nothing wrong with the Must Own rating. It's just a strong opinion for
a positive review. You don't MUST do anything, as if you read something
on the internet and automatically do it?!

Default Icky review of Ichabod

This was my favorite Disney short of all time when I was a kid - yes I'm THAT old and grandfatherly although my son is only 14 (and Ichabod remains one of his favorite animated films as well).

I am sad to hear though that Disney too has not treated this classic with respect ... I had planned to upgrade from my DVD of the set but now not sure if it's worth pouring more money into the coffers of whoever runs Disney now - poor Walt must be turning over in his crypt, or fridge.

Yeah this reviewer is bad IMO. I always skip his reviews. Tons of examples of inconsistencies.

Check out this review he did and the topic about it. I lost respect for both him and the site and i've been a member from the very start.

Picked this one up for only $16.50. Dealers on fleabay must've picked these, as well as tarzan, hercules, and bedknobs and broomsticks, for pretty cheap, as they seem to be having a pricing war going on.
