For some reason I thought this was a Stephen King novel and I do not know why.

Anyway, my g/f said this was far close to the original book, which makes it superior to the original movie.

Boring and pointless remake. I didn't even bother watching the second half during broadcast.

Tell your girlfriend that she is completely wrong.

You mean a remake that:
  • Moves the story to Paris (for a tax break)
  • Turns Rosemary into an agnostic (at least not explicitly religious)
  • Makes Guy a tortured writer/university professor (instead of an asshole actor)
  • Reconfigures the Castevets as a creepy European couple a few years older than Rosemary and Guy (and Roman into cliche creepy Brit)
  • Really only uses its extra runtime to add pointless extraneous scenes of Saldana in a cooking class and/or with a police detective
isn't as faithful as Polanski's adaptation, which lifted entire lines of dialog and even meticulously matched detail in set design directly from Ira Levin's page? No way!
