I've always loved this movie, Frank Langella was perfect for this role. I have owned a copy of this film on every home viewing format from super 8mm through DVD. Having said that, the only thing that's keeping me from committing to buy the blu ray is the fact that the soundtrack will be 2.0, when it really deserves a 5.1 treatment. Maybe Shout Factory should've handled this. Unless there are some great reviews for the video quality, I'll probably stick with the DVD. On a side note, I watched Dracula on Halloween weekend back in 1980, as part of a double feature with the 1979 version of Nosferatu. Now every Halloween I continue that tradition at home.

Why would that stop you? Was it originally done in 2.0?
What is the 2.0 is a lossless or PCM format?
I would take that. but that's me
I generally prefer to listen to movies in their originally format.
If they can create a 5.1 track and include both then I would obviously prefer that too.

Well, awhile back when I would fantasize about Dracula being released on blu ray, I had hoped that it would have a 5.1 soundtrack. When it was last released on DVD back in 2004, it had a 2.0 track. I will say this, back in my super 8mm collecting days, I did come across a 16 min. promotional reel which was hosted by producer Walter Mirisch, which featured some exciting highlights from Dracula. This reel was generally available for theatre owners at that time. Now, if Universal were to include that, I would definitely spend some of my lunch money on it.
