I actually enjoyed The Watcher. Have it on VHS and HD DVD. The HD DVD looked and sounded pretty decent. Don't know if I'll be upgrading to blu-ray though, UNLESS it gets bundled in a "thriller double (or triple) pack" or something.

I also enjoyed The Watcher, I never understood the hate it got upon release. Spader turns in a solid performance, and Keanu Reeves played a good bad guy. I'd consider upgrading the HD DVD of it and White Noise of the transfers and or sound are better. Course better transfers would be one in a million, I'd bet anything they'll be the same HD DVD masters, possibly with some DNR thrown in.

I agree with that. To me, I think the hate stems from the overall look and feel of the film. I remember watching the film for the first time (jeez, that's over 10 years ago come to think of it...) via my VHS copy and the first thing that came to my mind was how "cheap" the movie looked, like in it's camera effects, editing, plain colour palette etc. But to me, it gave the movie a certain charm.

If I remember correctly, I thought the PQ for White Noise on HD DVD was pretty good. Decent TrueHD track as well. I have the White Noise/White Noise 2 blu-ray double feature that TVA released here in Canada. Again if I remember correctly, the PQ ad AQ of the first movie was pretty similar with the HD DVD (although I think DNR was applied more and I THINK it's only in 1080i, however it still looked pretty good to be honest). This pack is available on amazon.com at the moment too. Here's the link if anyone's interested: http://www.amazon.com/White-Noise-1-...586441-1784868
