Is this basically just a re-release of the Platinum Edition that was released back in 2008? That was a stellar release. Can't really see this new Diamond Edition being any better.

So why should I buy this again when I have the version from a few years ago?

They have a few extra special features not found in the original blu-ray release. Personally though...I dont think it's worth a double dip for.

If someone messed it, they don't have to pay $90 for it via 3rd party.

But as taygan315 says, more extra features. I'd speculate too the code will work on uv/vudu, w00t.
I am a SUCKER for most Disney stuff so I will likely dip again just because.

Did the previous release have a 7.1 mix?

I have both the classic and masterpiece version on vhs, a laserdisc copy, and possibly a dvd copy as well. In a film this old, I don't think the upgrade is going to be worth buying new. I'll find a used copy of it on blu-ray somewhere for a buck or two at a thrift store, flea market, or yard sale eventually.

I preordered from the UK, where it comes out next month.

I had the 2008 version and lost it in a fire, and its expensive to pick up now

Yeah, but I really don't see why they are rereleasing a movie already done on BD when there are others that have yet to be released on BD at all. Aladdin should have been released by now.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it wasn't a major fire in which a lot of stuff was lost.

I'm still kicking myself for not picking up Beauty and The Beast on blu-ray when I had the chance. Ah well; just the way she goes sometimes.

I bought Aladdin on BD from Amazon UK when it came out. It has great PQ, and it's fine enough if you don't care about a lot of extra special features or extra discs.
