I thought at first Tarzan was going to be 3D. Was this a rumor or is the U.S. market going to be shafted and that release available only overseas.

Oh, and everyone can thank me for this release news. I sat on the fence forever on buying the UK versions of both. Now that they've been in my hands less than a month, now they're announced for domestic release.

I did the same thing--imported them from Amazon UK last month and now here comes the US announcement.

I was hoping for a 3D release of Tarzan, but I think the other 3D releases have underperformed and Disney seems to be backing off in their support of the format. I'm a big fan and would have liked to see those jungle scenes in 3D.

Do you think we could still see a Tarzan 3D release overseas??

Has the film already been converted at the studio? Knowing that answer may possibly answer your question. If not, I'd say no chance.

Sorry folks, no announcement yet. We got confused by an Amazon Canada listing.

We saw a cover art for the 3D one previously.

Yeah but with all the evidence, including the wiki, announcements will be SOON.

Default "...and so Mickey Mouse returns to Valhalla, to slumber and feed."

I'm pessimistically waiting for them to announce a title as a Disney Movies Anywhere exclusive, thus starting the trend of moving the catalog off the disc market.

I imagine, slowly but surely, only the Diamond Edition films are released on Blu-ray, with the lesser films relegated to digital copy in the cloud. And then Disney eventually phases out BD support all together.

Of course, Disney Europe would still release films on BD, so we'd all bitterly call the streaming/download service Disney Movies Anywhere But Here, and be forced to import even more.

God, I hope not.

I see two references of Tarzan 3D being released in cinemas, but it was suppose to come out in September 2012 theatrically in the UK. It didn't come out, obviously.

Even as of this day in 2014 the infrastructure is still not in place for this to be realistic. And believe me Disney learned way back when, when home videos were something new and they refused to enter the market and the pirates were making a killing.
