Default 'Used Cars' - High-Def Digest Review

The Twilight Time release of Robert Zemeckis' 'Used Cars' is recommended. Here's why...

Yeah, you need to buy it through Twilight Time. Not sold in stores.

I'll probably just get the Sony Pictures DVD at some point....

My same thought. I love this movie but won't spend almost $40 on a blu. I don't even spend that much on tv seasons.

Well to be fair, it's $8 shipping to Canada ($4 to USA).

I use to spend $40 on some newly released HD DVDs back in 07 and 08 (The Departed, Miami Vice, Van Helsing etc.). But those days are looooong over; I only get things when they're at a low price now. Gotta budget!!

I remember spending $30 on HD DVDs. But not anymore. Funny enough Used Cars is on right now on Sony Movie Channel. I missed the beginning but it's on again in a few hours. I have my DVR set up.

Great review, Gordon, but have to disagree on this statement. Look at 09:14 - 09:16. That's an extremely low-def, butt-ugly, 240p-esque, old YouTube-style shot. Right after the bumper of the first sold car falls off, and right before our first close-up of Luke Fuchs. I don't know what happened there (different source print? something in bad shape?), but it stands out like a very sore thumb.

Other than that: a very nice Blu-ray. And the audio commentary is hilarious. Kurt Russell is lauging all the way through - and Zemeckis talking about how his scrotum shrivels at the dangerous stunts that he staged. He says he would do it all-CGI now - which is a shame, of course.

This movie was an absolute riot, then the end just drags forever. If they cut 15 minutes off it, it would be perfect.

Good news for those that either missed out on this Twilight Time title (or those who just didn't want to spend the outrageous money...like me), Koch Media released this in Germany last October and it is region free and has extras.
