Default 'King Kong vs. Godzilla' - High-Def Digest Review

E has reviewed 'King Kong vs. Godzilla'. He says this essentially kick-started the giant monster craze of the 60s. He says the film still entertains through its hilariously cheap production values. The Blu-ray showcases strong video and slightly better audio. This is for the fans.

I am quite amazed at how great the picture quality looks. I own the Japanese DVD and Toho's video looks like utter crap. In fact, the majority of the movie looks like the horrible scenes found in this thing. It is just too bad Universal is too lazy to give us the Japanese version.

Nice review.

This is a fun little movie. I've always hated the Kong mask - it's like the designer had only heard of a gorilla without actually seeing one. But somebody else pointed out that even Godzilla's face doesn't look too great in the films of this era.

The American parts of the film bog and dumb the movie down, but they also add some goofiness that many people appreciate from older movies like this. Shame the Japanese version will seemingly never be released here, but I'm glad to have the US version on Blu-ray.

I liked this. I wish it had the Japanese cut as well, but I think part of the fun for me is the horrible dubbing and the corny American parts. The film looks fantastic. This was a fun release. Its a pitty its a barebone release, but the price is right.

Never saw this movie. I could never find it as a kid, but remember checking out a book about the movie from the library. I had always heard rumors of multiple versions. Shame the japanese cut isn't included.

Going to pick this up only because I have never seen it but always wanted to.

Anyone know if Godzilla 1985 will ever be released on Blu Ray? (I don't even think it was on dvd). That is the godzilla movie I remember watching the most as a kid.
