Bryan: "That being said, in order to truly benefit from and enjoy this film, you most likely should have watched the original three seasons."

I haven't bought many DVDs lately, so it sounds like that's the way to go
to watch the TV seasons. No blus for the series?

Wow, Best Buy currently has them for $10 each season:

can't wait to buy this. i missed it in theaters due to the limite run and a busy schedual. then my plan was to blind buy it because i love the show but then i found it on the PSN store so i gave in and rented it.

and i agree, as a fan, it was a pretty great and awesome movie. it definitely feels like a long episode but its all good. as for the ending feeling incomplete, its probably because they released 2 books that continue from where the movie leaves off. so while a new show or sequel isn't coming, they are planning to continue the story in readable form!!!

I absolutely loved this show, and I was very pleased by the movie. I have received all of my Kickstarter rewards so far, including the poster signed by the cast, which I have since had framed, and now I'm just waiting for this Blu-ray to come in the mail!

Also, in regards to Bouncy X's comment, YES, read the book that just came out. It does start off, practically, right where the movie left off, it answers some unanswered questions from the movie, and they bring back a character who didn't make the cut for the movie. The book is a very breezy read, and it's a nice compliment to the film.

I'd recommend catching the show on Amazon Prime if you have it. I'd say that watching the show is mandatory prior to watching the movie. Season 1 is perfect, season 2 is pretty great, season 3... you may just want to watch a synopsis on that one.

I liked the movie, but it was definitely only made for existing fans, and plays like an extended episode of the TV series. It's only purpose is to bring the cast back together for one last hurrah. The murder mystery plot isn't memorable at all.

Never understood the appeal of the show. The acting and cinematography were excellent but the stories were crap. Full of contrived coincidences, clichès abound, obvious twists, illogical research, etc. Plus, the main character turned into a massive jerkass in the 3rd season.

Other than the fact that the lead character in each is a girl, they're not even remotely similar. I have no idea how to make that comparison.
