I missed this one in the theaters - How well does this one rank ? Anyone that has seen it?
Different director, different production house, different everything.

It was actually decent. They didn't try to replicate the first one. They also tried to deal with his inner feelings more than the first I thought. Good special effects.

I would rent it first though.

Decent movie. You can tell where the studio interference hits, and it does affect the overall quality. But the first half is really, really solid and they explore cool new ideas with the material.

I'd say it stands fine alongside the original as a companion piece.

I agree, I liked the first half a lot, the second half was not nearly as good.

Yeah the build up and setup of his character was great for the first half, then it kind of goes generic action flick a bit after that, which is okay but they really were going a great direction focusing on shutting off emotions and memories and the legality and morality of it all. It really was a different take on the material and that made it quite good IMO, it was a lot better than I expected it to be.

Shame it doesnt look like an unrated cut or anything is coming out, but it was good either way

No unrated/R-rated cut of the film, no sale.

Remakes are bad enough. But when you remake an R-rated film (that was originally X-rated for violence) into a an easily-digestible PG-13 wank-a-thon, I will not support it out of principle.

The UK is getting a steelbook and us Canadians are getting a metalpak (Future Shop exclusive). Both look REALLY good in my opinion. Already have my metalpak pre-ordered.
